I have always loved the original costume, but the comment regarding the tiger stripes on a character named Wolverine made by Mike Choi does cause one to ponder. But, the Marvel Comics Presents arc by Barry Windsor-Smith contains the best look for Wolverine, both as you describe--naked stump with tubes and wires, and that amazing "hoodie"--as well as the "no costume" look...the Marvel Comics Select #79 cover by Barry Windsor-Smith is one of the all-time greats.
