Been away for the last week in Colorado enjoying the Rocky Mountain National Park- which should explain the chirrupping crickets sound you've heard from me if you've sent an email .

Y'see. Most of my life is spent sitting on my backside illustrating pictures of people in action - the irony does not escape me. So, when I have a break I usually like to take the time to hike and actually get up off my...ahem...arse.

This I did. A lot.

Izabella and I were getting up at 6.00am and heading out for 5-8 hour hikes up mountain paths, staggering across ice fields and meandering through meadows...and thoroughly enjoying it.

While I was there we took the time to visit Boulder and it's environs and took plenty of reference photos for me to utilise in the mid section of The Stand adaptation. At least I'll be attempting to make everything look incredibly authentic!

It's that special time on the Marvel site when a group of editors and freelancers reveal their darkest, innermost secrets.

This time, the big question is:

What's your favourite Spider-Man Team-Up?

Up there on the Wizard site is an article about alternate futures with an illustration provided by myself and colourist Moose Baumann.

I have an interview about the Stand, with the Birmingham Mail, up at :

This interview was conducted by a good friend of mine - Mr. Paul Birch. In fact, Paul got me my first work at Marvel! Being a truly concientious person, Paul would always recycle his paper and, whilst sending in some plot ideas to Marvel UK, he printed his ideas out on the blank side of one of my photocopies.

At that time Marvel didn't require the dependable assistance of Mr. Birch but...."who did the illustrations on the back? We could send some work his way!" And there you have it, my first work with Marvel UK....with Dan Abnett writing... on Biker Mice From Mars!

There's also a link in the Birmingham Mail interview to another chat I had with Paul. If you ever wanted to understand the inner churnings of some of the final days at CrossGen comics then go and check it out.

In your comic shops today should be some copies of The Stand sketchbook.

Inside there are cover roughs, character sketches, final illustrations and written descriptions from Roberto Aguirre Sacasa, Lee Bermejo and myself. Also, fronting the sketchbook is an introduction by Bill Rosemann.

If you follow the links below you should find some interviews I've taken part in with regards to my work on the project:

The Chicago con was huge fun and I think I've gained some new muscles after lugging all my stuff back and forth between artists alley and The Hero Initiative booth, on opposite sides of the convention centre, a fair few times each day.

It's always a pleasure to meet old friends and colleagues and to have some face time with creators I haven't met before - such as Humberto Ramos, Mitch Breitweiser and respective wives, Adi Granov, Brian Michael Bendis, Khoi Pham and Greg Rucka.

The fans are always so generous and pleasant and I enjoy meeting them. Many thanks to Jeff and Larry for sitting down with me at one point and having a good old conversation. Some of those fans can quickly become your friends.

Here's a few links to the con happenings including a brief discussion of beer and coverage from the Mondo Marvel panel :
